Buying Guide
A door finger-pinch guard solves a different problem to a corner protector: it stops a door swinging shut on small fingers in the gap near the hinge, which a corner cushion on a table can't do. This set uses a C-shaped design that clips over the edge of a door between 2.3 and 3.3cm thick, made from high-density EVA foam at 2cm thickness so it holds its shape under repeated use rather than compressing flat.
Where to fit it
The C-shaped door edge guard fits most internal doors, but the same shape also works as a finger pinch guard for cabinets and drawers, since the clip-on fit doesn't rely on the item being a full-height door. It's also useful on windows that get pushed and pulled by small hands. Because it clips on rather than needing adhesive, it can be moved between doors as a child grows and starts reaching different heights, or taken off entirely without leaving marks.
Fitting it into a baby-proofing routine
A door finger-pinch guard covers hinge-side pinch points, which is a different hazard to sharp table and cabinet corners. Most homes use this alongside separate corner protectors on furniture and wall protectors on stair gates, since each covers a different kind of bump or trap risk. As a childproof door guard, it also does a second job: the foam cushions the door against draughts, so it works as a door slam stopper for a nursery or bedroom even once a child is older and past the finger-pinch stage.
Material and installation
The EVA foam is eco-friendly, non-toxic, lightweight and highly elastic, so it cushions rather than just blocking the door. Fitting takes seconds: no tools or adhesive, and no drilling into the door or frame. As with any small home safety product, it should be used alongside normal adult supervision rather than relied on as a complete solution against injury from a moving door.
